Seriously? You would have thought they would have fixed this issue after the M11x had serious problems with this. Just got my M14x R2 and will most likely return it because of this... Call me a cry baby but something so simple to fix and they decided not to? Or am I an unlucky one who has this problem and most of them dont do this?

I use a thin micro fiber between mine. You could get the razer thin mouse pad, but I find its still too thick.

It all depends on how the computer is packed into your bag. The screens are not very rigid, so if you compress the computer any it will rub.

So it looks like you guys dont stack a bunch of other things in the bag.

The only time I had a problem was when I would carry both my m11x and my m14x in the same bag. The m11x would put pressure on the m14x screen and cause it to rub.

I now dont carry both laptops in the same bag, but I also out of habbit (with my m11x) always put something between the lcd and keyboard.

with the bag I was mentioned (it has a nice protection and heat dissipation) , it can store my PSU , wireless mouse with dock and a external HDD or DvD.

I had m11x portfolio , the bag looks awesome but can't put anything lol , the CD holders are bull. xD

I'm not trying to advertise or anything , just wanted to share good stuff with you guys.

-check the assembly of the notebook to make sure the kb is totally flat. if the cabling underneath is not routed cleanly, the middle of the kb can rise - this was the case with my NEW r2, and it was solved when i repasted/rebuilt.

-cut a microfiber polishing cloth for electronics to the needed size and keep between the kb and screen

-don't stack books/notebooks on top of the poor m14x

Yeah, I started using a cleaning cloth to avoid the marks, the media bar on the top right used to leave quite a mark every time I leave the laptop closed for a while.

At first the marks weren't noticeable, but it's just one of those things that once you notice it you can't stop looking at it.

I bought a shaggy mac after experiencing the same issue with my m17x some time ago. I have the 17 inch version, but I wonder if the 13 inch would work well for the M14x? Just a thought. Cheers!! :)

i just measured the surface that holds the kb, then cut the larger black cloth to be a good size.

What about the Razer Kabuto? Do it fit nicely on the M14x even with it being closed? (No gaps) Razer Kabuto Gaming Mouse Mat - Ultra Thin Mousemat

I know for the m11x there's still a gap in the screen when you try to close the lid with the mouse mat on the keyboard

I have razer kabuto but i don't think its a good idea to put it in between , my mouse pad usually dust attached , if I put in the lid my screen gets dirtier.

I used to think the same in the beginning that the screen touches the keyboard, or the other way around. But the actual truth is (if you have this problem), that your keyboard is not fitted properly in it's place or your screen is not centralized exactly as it should be. Little bit of a twist when the screen is off (you can check this when you close the lid, by touching the end corners and see if it is exactly to the edge on both sides), will make your screen bend slightly on one side and that is why will touch either your keyboard or the mouse pad area.

Since you will use your system for a while, typing, gaming etc. will leave marks on the keyboard and if any of the above is happening to your system, that is how you will have marks and in time most probably even scratches to your screen.

I spent about an hour taking this small guy apart to reach to the hinge, release the screws a bit, centralize the screen and then screw it back properly, then taking my time in settling the keyboard the right way and now I do not see any marks whatsoever since that time (its been a week already). Because the rubber edge (left and right) of your screen, should suffice to place the screen the proper way while not in use.

But, if like some of the guys mentioned here that they are putting other items along with the system, then yes, use a clean cloth (like the one for the sun glasses) in between the screen and keyboard, to avoid any damages to the screen (marks and / or scratches).

Best solution to all those issues (though it is not easy to do it and you will not enjoy the same clarity of the screen) is a screen protector. This is what I have installed on my m18xR2 and those problems have gone Green Onions Supply AG2 Anti-Glare Screen Protector - Notebook screen protector : Monitors: Flat Screen LCD Computer Displays | Dell Canada (this is for m14x model).

The kubuto is too thick. If you use that (I have it for my m11x) it will cause the center of the screen to push into the lcd. It then sticks to the lcd and makes this strange looking blob on the screen.

Do not get a Razer Kabuto. Too thick and as already said, presses the screen in and causes a bubble under the display.

My girlfriends and my alienwares both show keyboard marks if we do not have our shaggymacs on. Its an unfortunate but required accessory.
