Hi everyone, just wanted to let everybody here know the Kingston HyperX 2133 8GB kit runs @ its full rated speed in my M14x R2 w/ 3820QM. Just got em today and was hesitant as they had no reviews anywhere but if you were waiting for someone to post about them first, go for it! it looks like they are now the fastest modules that one can put in this laptop. WEI went from 7.9 to 8.1 in windows 8.

I am running this kit @ 2133 without problems with a 3820QM in my r2. I did set it to 2133 in the bios so im not sure if it would autoclock to 2133 but it does run fine at full speed and i have verified its clocks in multiple programs.

^ I'm sure you forgot to mention PnP , because only PnP supports up to 1866 , 2133.

    mine will arrive tomorrow :D

thanks iPhantomhives, i did indeed forget to mention it is the PNP kit, Kingston SKU# KHX21S12P1K2/8
I should also mention that the Corsair 16GB 1866 kit is also PNP, however I did have to set it in the bios to 1866 because for some reason it was only doing 1600 in my machine.

    Oh Thanks , I seem having problem running 2133 ram I got , KHX21S12P1K2/8.

Randomly Black Screen while starting the machine , graphic shuttering randomly lol.

I took some test on the ram its seem passed all test , I still receive random black screen. will trying figure it out what's going on....

They also lower the quality of the ram build , it was a piece of metal plate on 1866mhz , the 2133 set came with piece of sticker lol

looks like the same kit I got. I also have the HyperX 8GB 1866 kit which does have the heat spreader. apparently they quit doing heat spreaders due to the added thickness making them incompatible with some laptops. I did set mine to run @ 2133 in the BIOS, but used auto timings. I can verify it runs @ 2133 in my r2 once I set the speed. not sure if it would have ran without setting it to 2133 because i had it manually set to 1866 for the ram i was replacing. on first boot with the new ram I went into the bios and changed the speed from 1866 to 2133 instead of changing it back to auto. I have head different things regarding processor compatibility for 1866/2133 ram. I have the 3820qm which works at full rated speed with either 1866 or 2133, once set in the bios. I have used both HyperX and Vengeance 1866 and HyperX 2133 and have hit rated speeds on all of them once set in the bios.

Yea , I have 3820qm too , that's why I did too , when running both 2133 my screen keeps shuttering , i took the screenshot asap lol , after that boot as black screen again , haha I did reset cmos & flashed few bios ver dose not help , I'll try again xD

Just tested everything I got , it only work when i set 1866 or lower in bios , if I'm on 2133/auto it will just blank screen. Not sure if window ultimate cause the problem?

im running Ultimate too and i have had zero problems with mine @2133. might have just got a bad set possibly?
lets try to sort this out
    i have the following hardware...
    3820qm
    2G 650m
Corsair Force GT 240 & Mushkin Atlas 240 in raid 0
    1600x900
    Killer 1202
    and 8GB kingston 2133 obviously.

do you have anything different in your setup that you think might be related?

I wouldn't think most of it these specs would be related either. its just that we already went through the basics and i didnt see any hardware differences i would think could have been the cause. I feel bad for starting a thread on this ram working at 2133 and the second person to try it has problems.

if you can think of anything else you want me to check on my end let me know. the only thing I see is the optical hdd swap in yours, though i agree it doesnt sound like the kind of thing that would cause an issue with ram.
