Well i finally got my m14x today.... so far i have played with it for about 3 hours. I cant decide if i am impressed or not. Other then the fact i can change the colors of the LEDs on the Keyboard, its not very impressive. For some reason STEAM keeps freezing, took 5 attempts at opening this website for the page to actually appear all the way, it doesnt seem to handle multi-tasking very well. Did i just get a bunk laptop, or is this how its suppose to run?

Im sorry to hear that....i received mine yesterday and I have been multitasking on it like no other. On average ive had atleast 3 windows open, 1 playing youtube videos, the others displaying my school and work websites...all while im playing starcraft 2 wl for approx 3 hrs at a time....ive had no overheating issues (using a cheap $30 cooling pad from target) and no indication of lag...however my steam program did fail to launch the first time i tried but the second time was a charm and no problems since....

Man, that figures... i always get the bunk stuff!... lol I only have the 4gb of ram. Maybe I will do some tweaking on it tonight, overclock the CPU and GPU, maybe that will help a little.

Well i havent done anything to it yet, and i just looked down and realized I have 3 Internet pages open, Steam open, downloading EVE Online, while searching for those widgets for GPU Temp, and Core Temp, and it was smooth sailing... maybe it was just the initial boot up, taht was slow.

lol well thats good to hear...also i noticed that when i turn alienfx off, the computer seems to get a speed kick and goes even faster, not that its slow with alienfx on, but when my starcraft game was loading, i compared the load times with fx on and then off, and it was almost 3 times as fast....soo maybe when you are doing intensive work, turn fx off and see what happens......btw any luck with those widgets? i might be interested :)

Also when windows boots for the first time it's building its superfetch so there's a lot more hdd activity going on for a little while.

ahh ok, yeah i installed GPU Temp and Core Temp, but Core Temp relies on a application also called Core Temp. Hey is 117 degrees Faranheit or 47 degrees Celsius ok for my GPU? I havent OC'd it yet.

Assuming that's at idle at that temperature. Must people see it go to the 70s C under load. Anything under like 95C is fine.

Well I finally OC'd the CPU and GPU, and HOLY LIGHT SPEED BATMAN! This thing is a friggin beast, and stays relatively cool. While playing eve i saw the GPU Temp jump to about 124 Farenheit but i thik that was mainly cause i had it on the arm of my couch... not the best ventilation.
