Does anyone have trouble with the source engine? I get like 30% gpu usage and like 40% cpu usage on my source games and they lag.. i used to play them at max with >100 frames but ever since an update to drivers i get like 40ish on medium. I have these specs
    i5 2450m @ 2.5ghz
    12 gb ddr5 ram
    nvidia 650m 2gb
Doesnt make sense when i play battlefield 3 on high with 30ish fps.. source engine should be running really fast on this laptop

and before any one says to make sure its running with the nvidia gpu.. it is.. msi afterburner shows gpu usage

I play games with the source engine mostly on ultra settings, the m14x is capable of handling this normally.
In your case, I'd try to remove the new driver you installed and return to the old one, or look out for an even newer one that will maybe fix the problem.

There's another option you could try, go to the device mangager, select your nVidia card -> properties, choose the register "driver", now you should see a button called "previous driver".
I'm not really an expert with drivers, has anyone else experienced this issue with the latest nvidia driver (310.70 - WHQL I believe)?

I feel you, but I'm sorry to say that I'm at the end of my knowledge.
I hope someone else will find a solution for your problem...
