So, I recently upgraded to Windows 8, and now my M14x R1 is having some mild issues with the volume controls on the keyboard. As I'm sure everyone knows, the Fn key and the various F# keys work to change the volume, brightness, etc. from the keyboard. Now that I've upgraded to Windows 8, I no longer get the old OSD popping up on screen, which is no major issue, however the specific volume up, volume down, pause/play, forward, backward, and eject keys no longer work. Muting works, brightness changing works, the Alienware command center key works, just not the ones I mentioned. I recently upgraded the BIOS to AO8, and for a while the volume keys were working, but they've since stopped again. Anyone else having this issue, or does someone have a solution?

Use the windows 8 OSD one from the R2 should fix your problem.

I have both the Windows 8 x64 M14x R2 Alienware OSD application installed and .NET Framework 3.5 enabled currently, as I did when I posed my question. There has been no change upon reinstalling the OSD application.

Hey bud, do you found any ways fixing the OSD application for Windows 8 ? I'm having the exactly same situation as you since the day I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with clean installation . I had tried windows 7 OSD and Windows 8 OSD with Net Framework 3.5. Nothing is working.

Besides, previously on windows 7, when I press FN+F3 for wireless switches, I get a small window from which I can turn on/off wifi and bluetooth. Now when I do that on Windows 8, the window does not appear, so I can only turn on/off wifi. I believed that OSD is part of the problem causing this.

I've seen around the forums that you need to uninstall the AWA OSD and leave the Windows 8 OSD only. This will fix the problem.

Uninstalled Alienware OSD and using the Windows 8 OSD alone right now. The window for wireless switches to turn on/off wifi & bluetooth still not appearing after hitting Fn+F3. For the moment hitting Fn+F3, it will only enable and disable wifi alone without having the windows appearing.
Meanwhile in windows 8 pc setting for wireless, the bluetooth option are greyed out. Take a look at the screencap.
