My GF keeps complaining that her wifi drops out a lot. She is running Windows 8 Pro and has the Intel 2230 wifi.

I can confirm that it does drop out randomly. She'll be surfing and then go to a link and will get the Chrome error where there is no internet.

I've tried re-installing her drivers twice. Also went inside her laptop and made sure the antenna cables were secure on the wifi card.

Kind of ran out of ideas. Anyone else getting this issue?

I found out that depend on the laptop and location, I have more issue with utrabook and near the corner at the opposite slot of the wifi (i.e the wifi and laptop is at the extremities of the house)

But for the regular laptop, it does not drop at all

My wi-fi is unstable when I'm downloading on Steam and using Chrome at home (something that didn't happen on Windows 7). I use the Killer 1103 with stock drivers. Whenever I go somewhere that has a better router than mine, it doesn't happen.

Thanks, I will try that if it drops out again. Intel just updated their drivers and I upgraded her wifi/bt/HD4000 drivers.

Nvidia also had updates and so did Synaptics.

Im running an 1103 in my R2 on Windows 8 and do get drop outs I didn't get on windows 7. it seems everything is good for random internet surfing but if I try to for example, move 10 GB to a NAS my card will dropout after a few GB. I dont recall if I had the issue with my 1202 or not. I had the 1103 in my R1 without issue and routinely would move massive amounts of data without a drop out. My guess is a windows8 driver issue. I was super happy when I found the separate dell BT4.0 module on ebay as it meant that I could replace the 1202 with the 1103 and add BT as a separate module as it was in the R1. unfortunately, the stability during long, large file transfers is not there. in most cases where Im moving that amount of data I am a few feet from a gigabit cable, so its not that big of a issue in my case. everything else about the 1103 is so leaps and bounds better than the Intel 6300 that I will deal with a few drop outs till they update the drivers again.
