    Hello,
I customized a i5 based m14x with HD+ screen and 6G ram. I managed to cut the price down to $1,111 from $1,234 through live chat. Do you guys think there is still room for further price cut? Say if I call and ask rep to beat the quoted price i currently got. or perhaps getting a freebee or two? I am also considering the option of getting a refurb one, since there is currently a 15% discount for offline ordering.

    thx

Ya. I told the rep I am a univ. student, and he managed to yank the price down by about 10%. I had to try 4, 5 reps who would only offer standard 2% student discount.

I tried to haggle on live chat and what i got was an indian rep who got me a better price but also downgraded my the components. I asked it were the same components he said yes but I asked for the quote just to make sure and saw the wifi and screen were not the same as i configured.

You seem to have a good deal for brand new. You could always try different reps until you're satisfied but what you have seems pretty good.

A refurbished Alienware is always a good choice. Every unit comes standard with a next-business day warranty 1-year, so it gives you peace of mind.

The M14X in my sig (same specs) is going for 1,999$ on ebay last time I checked (refurbished), however I'm sure you find it cheaper if you stalk the outlet and the Dell Outlet twitter feed for coupons (US-only).

Personally, I think the rep you were speaking to could do better.

Also, avoid the chat service - most of the time you'll get nowhere. :) Sometime it takes dozens of phone calls to find the perfect rep.

If you'd like, I could give you a good reps' contact info via PM. He gives significant discounts on Alienware laptops. It's US-only, though - I didn't use him this time because I lost my passport and couldn't travel to the US in time and needed a laptop right away.

Mate dont you think 1.999$ is too much for it as refurbished?

Not if one cannot get into the US to purchase one through the US-only Dell Outlet.

A comparable new in Canada with the same specs is 1,468.99$. Total savings = 349$~(tax included in both).

    If you're a US resident, then 1,000-50$~ for a refurbished~ (i7/900 screen) with a coupon is a good deal.
