Hi all I've been reading threw all alien forums and decided to get myself a m18xr2 to replace my sager np8180 (nothing wrong with it) while I'm at it I'm also getting a m17x r4 for my gf.

Anyways question is should I get an m14xr2 to replace my m15x with I7 820qm 8 gigs of ram and a gtx 560m 1080p Is the new m14x more powerful than my m15x?
I love the size of my m15x a little heavy but I don't care I lug around a 15pound laptop(sager) I just want to know if it really is worth it to lose screen size for better bat?
    Thanks

as far as I understand it the 650m is as fast a 460m. The difference between the 460m and 560m aren't that much. basically there would a little jump in performance and a lot of battery. :)

How does the 650m compare to the 5850 ATI? I've seen reviews of each individually, but I want to know your guys opinions of that matter.

    Thanks in advance.

Actually in most areas the 560m and the 650m are very similar. 560m has a slightly larger memory bus, and the GDDR5 memory. Were as the the 650m has the new better architechture. To be honest they are really quite equal. For instance acording to benchmarks on notebook check there is only a 2% diffrence in frames per second on Diablo 3 with the 560 having better marks. On Sky Rim the 650m came out on top by 16%.

Both card beat the 5850m from ATI hands down.

The 650M is actually also GDDR5. I think most are reporting the GT 650M overclocks to better than 560M performance.

There are two diffrent versions of the card. from what I just read the m14x r2 is the gddr5. IMO they are still very similar.

The old (overall) 3dmark11 scores for the 5850 overclocked are 2600-2700. The 560mGTX (overall) scores are 2100-2500. The 650m overclocked at 135/200 hit (overall) 2670+. And yes, the m14xR2 allows for overclocking so don't believe the others that say you can't, they are talking about the other brand of notebooks that have a different BIOS. If you need the actual (graphic) score from 3dmark11 its 2448. Im not going to say its equal to the 560mGTX or the 5850. Im going to say its very competitive.

Hey! I have 2 m14x's right in front of me and let me tell you that the difference between the screens is amazing, I would recommend you the 900p one because everything looks pretty cool, the reason why you want to get an Alienware is because you want to have the best and my recommendation not only as an AW tech but as a gamer would be to get the 900p at least unless you plan to run your games on an external display with better resolution. I think dell makes m14x with 900p , because 650m unable to handle 1080p that much? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd say m14x runs great in 900p , if 14" screen with 1080p , those words on desktop will be too small.
