Purchased my laptop about 2 years ago and have been loving it to death. It's been running great for a solid two years now. (Got it late July 2012)

I've had a few issues with it including battery, sound, and the like, but nothing that support couldn't figure out.

    My specs are as follows.

    Sys model: Alienware M14xR2
    BIOS: INsydeH20 Version 03.721.24A13
    Processor: Intel i7 3610WM @ 2.3 GHZ
    Memory; 16 gigs
    GX: NVIDIA Geforce GT650m

I wanted to burn some music to a disc yesterday and encountered a weird issue with the ODD that I haven't seen before. I put the disc in and it starts reading it. Then, it makes a da du daaaa sound and rejects it without reading anything. I tried restoring the computer to it's factory state, and that didn't help. I'm pretty sure something happened to the ODD itself.

Any suggestions? I really don't want to send my computer back until later next month if I have too. (school) If the best way to do it is contact support for a replacement odd, then that's the way I'll go.

Thanks! I want to keep this thing running until next summer which is when i plan to upgrade.

Try and install new bios or reflash the bios you have. I do not know if you have an old bios. Try that first. Produktstøtte | Dell Norge
