Hey guys, quick question for ya, I have the Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.9GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache) . I overclocked it using the guide on youtube. I noticed that my process never get up to 2.9Ghz, it always hover around 2.6 on full load with temps of about 73. I was wondering why it does that, i tried a few benchmark programs and I use the TS bench program too, still only got to 2.6Ghz. I was wondering if that's normal.

The amount of turbo boost a Core™ i7 2630QM uses depends on how many cores are in the active state.

    1 core - 2.9 GHz
    2 core - 2.8 GHz
    3 core - 2.6 GHz
    4 core - 2.6 GHz

When you are running a single threaded task or benchmark, there are still a lot of Windows background processes waking up additional cores on a regular basis so you never get the full 29 multiplier for more than a few milliseconds at a time. When fully loaded, your CPU is running as expected.
