    Hi All,

Well, I've been a console gamer for the last 4 yrs. Before that I casually played games on a desktop.

I installed Oblivion on my M14x today as I was curious how it would look/run in my laptop. I have previously played Oblivion on both the PS3 and 360.

All I can say is .. WOW. The graphics are far superior to either aforementioned console. The game runs fluidly and I note that there is a whole community of mods out there for the PC game.

Now I'm left in the dilemna of whether to purchase Skyrim for the 360 or my M14x. I had it pre-ordered on the 360 but I cancelled that this afternoon until I've made my mind up.

Yeah the Oblivion modding community is awesome.
With some graphic mods you can give your Oblivion even more eye candy!

I would definately recommend PC, if you have a steam account that would be your best choice

What settings and what FPS do you get?

I've always wondered about Oblivion but I've never got around to installing it on here.

M14x gets plent of FPS on Oblivion. It is a 5 year old game and this is brand new hardware.

I can max out Fallout: New Vegas on Super Ultra High easily, and that game is more demanding than Oblivion (but provides a good comparison because it uses the same Gamebryo engine).

Skyrim will run on AT LEAST medium settings on the m14x, and most likely it will run on either medium-high or high settings. Do not worry about performance.

The nice thing is that Bethesda is using a new graphics engine (Creation engine) instead of the Gamebryo engine, so hopefully in the moments where it is supposed to be a big gigantic Lord of the Rings-style massive battle, there are more than 4 NPC's (seriously the final battle in Oblivion has about 6 NPCs fighting with you ).

Sorry for the late reply. Don't know about FPS (it looks smooth though) and I have all the settings maxed out.

Interesting to note people's views on how Skyrim will run. I think the deal maker will be whether I want to sit in front of my laptop playing the game or with a controller in my hand on the big screen. Conversely, I get more time on my laptop as the wife and kids can still watch the TV. However, on the 360 I have to beg, borrow and steal the time.

There's a way to use the XB360 controller with your M14x.

    I wish I could use a PS3 controller too.
    Not fair. :(

I'm hoping they keep some of the interface hacks in the game with the new engine. If you set your mana to infinite, you could craft spells in Oblivion that would send every movable object in a room blasting across the room. Hitting a mob with it would launch the mob like a catapult.

I'll have a look into using my 360 controller on my laptop. Thanks.
