Hi, I have a new m14x r2 (BIOS A09). I want to install windows on mSATA SSD 128 and linux ubuntu on 500gb HDD. Now I have only mSATA in the laptop. I don't know the differecne between UEFi and LEGACY. I searched about, but I didn't understand (I'm italian, so excuse me for bad syntax). Can anyone help me? I go into BIOS to select to boot form DVD to install windows (on mSATA) with original alineware dvd windows 7 home, but i don't know: have i to choose dvd boot in legacy mode, or UEFI mode? (and i want to know tha same information about insalling linux on 500gb HHD)
Thanks

It'll make a noticeable difference if you install windows 8 because of some features like secure boot.
Aside from that, UEFI is just a better looking BIOS so it's up to you. -
The biggest difference for me is that the UEFI boots a lot quicker than the legacy BIOS. For Windows Legacy BIOS and UEFI require different disk formats so once you pick that's what you've got unless you want to reinstall.

Yes UEFI with all needless option roms means bios logo (1-2 seconds), windows logo (1-2 seconds), login screen ^-^
Install windows and linux..UEFI or LEGACY?
