IF you could buy this mod, would you do it?

So. Our screens are super glossy, we all know this, and they're impossible to use with any amount of sunlight. I've been looking for a mod for a Matte screen for some time. I suspected that there was a Matte Screen UNDER the Glass/Plastic Panel but I was not sure.

Its been confirmed, you can simply peel off the Glass Panel (I'd use a heatgun and a Plastic Spudger to do this) and le voila! A matte Screen. A forum user by the name aikimox who actually lives a few hours from me has fabricated one for his M18x. IT LOOKS AWESOME!!!

I've emailed him, and offered my M14x as a test laptop. Who would be interested?

I think in that "mod" he just took off the plastic overlay, in which you could just cut out that glossy protector and put the bezel back on. You wouldnt have to make a new bezel like your friend did I think

And the biggest problem is that the m11x and m14x have glossy screens under the plastic screen. M17x has a matte screen too though

Wonder if Its worth it(and even possible) to take the plexi-glass off and replace the panel with a higher quality one? Just a thought as I would be very interested in doing something like that. ;)

Just replace the screen on the M14x you mean? I think some have tried that and none have worked so far. There are plenty of 14.1 inch 900p screens out there though

Nah i was thinking about maybe getting an RGB screen for my m17x. Just don't know if its possible to take the panel out after you take the glass off or not. ;)

Can someone confirm the panel under this is glossy too??? GAH. Thats gonna suck if it is.

I want a premium professional look, so I want a properly cut bezel. The first one will cost a ton, but after the design is made, I could have 5 or 10 stamped out for minimal cost.

I found a source on a Matte 900P Screen, compatible with our laptops (if ours is actually a glossy panel when I remove it) so I'm taking the plunge, and we'll go from there.

Tell me if works out, I just got one of those matte screen protectors and it works really well. The lcd feels a bit more "grainy" because of the light diffusion but it definitely helps with eye strain.

You do? I know there were a couple of matte ones out there (presumably the same as the Lenovo T420) but I dont think they worked. Also its not hard to check, you just have to pull off all the clips on the bezel. I would but I baby my machine and wont even risk that.

Also, what do you mean clean and professional? I was saying all you'd have to do is take off the bezel, cut out the plastic overlay, and put the bezel back on. Looks the same but a little less glossy.
