    I'm thinking of Crucial M4 256GB for M14X

    Hi all,

I read up on some reviews and I've decided the Crucial M4 is a good balance of reliability and speed. Though what concerns me is that once the firmware is updated to ver 0002, the write speeds decrease by more than half as proven by the OP in this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...d-crucial-m4-256-gb-underperforming-m14x.html

I'm just about to order but my final questions are:
-does this make a difference to daily use? The write speeds are close to Velociraptor speeds.
-would a future firmware update correct this as firmware ver 0001's write speeds were much higher?

    Thanks!

The SSD that you referred isn't correctly aligned which is why there is a massive performance loss.

Ah, so a clean install of win 7 should clear everything up? Thanks for replying!
