see if this helps...i just did a clean install of w7 and restored the alienware look and feel using that guide...its really helpful and if u have any questions u can ask...i have all the drivers you will need as well so if you cant locate them on the dell drivers webpage you can ask..

    what are your specs btw??

If you haven't got any programs installed except Windows, this is most likely mean you need to install the graphics drivers. Install the Intel integrated ones first, and then the nvidia ones, should be available on Dell's drivers site.

Webcam central should be on a disk that came with the system.

I had 5 discs with my system:

    -Windows 7.
    -Resource.
    -Roxio.
    -Applications....powerdvd and some other program.
    -Webcam central.

well i recently changed my harddrive because the old one broke, but now when im playing a game or a song, sometimes the program freezes for a second and the sound coming from the game or song sounds like a transformers changing into a car. kinda sounds like this: ‪Custom Alienware Startup Sound‬‏ - YouTube
because when the program slows down for a sec, the sound does too and it changes into static-y sound. ive tried reinstalling the realtek audio drivers, and turning them off in task manager, but the problem still persists. anyone got any idea how to fix this? and also my computer never slowed down for 1 or more sec on my old harddrive. HELP!

Your laptop's probably about to transform into an Earth saving (or menacing) robot.

The old hard drive "broke"? Why didn't you just get it replaced under warranty?

i recently had to change harddrives because the old one broke, dell gave me a new WD hdd. but, since the change, there has been hiccups of performance, video, and sound stuttering. for example, im watching some videos on youtube then suddenly everything goes super slow and the sound turns into static-robotic-y sound and the video goes bad quality. the hiccups last about 1-5 seconds, and is REALLY annoying. anyone have a solution?
