I have had some issues with browser crashes and visual studio crashes as well as sluggish Win7 desktop performance. Desktop performance is controlled by the Intel HD 3000 graphics embedded in my CPU. I did not find an updated driver on the Dell website so I went to

    Intel Driver Update Utility

I downloaded and installed the driver recommended by Intel. My destop aero score jumped from 5.6 to 6.9. This update has made my M14x feel significantly snappier. Windows Explorer, IE9, MS Officer and Visual Studio 2010 all run much faster and smoother. I hope this helps :D

This maybe off topic, but I found out that if you follow Blackweb's link ( Intel Driver Update Utility) and scroll down to the bottom, under the " Visibily Smart Software", you'll find some few really useful programs you can try, like UMBRA 3 (It's like a CPU/GPU Performance Booster, however it look like it is a non-commercial program), Movavi Video Converter (The title say it all) and MediaConverter 7.5 (It's a multi-media converter kind of software etc... It's also have incl game link though I'd suggest you get it at your local retailer or in Steam if you looking for cheaper pricetag.
