Ok so I posted asking this in some other threads but I am still confused.

If I do not have the 280.26 is it better just to download the new 285.75 driver which does not need a modded .inf file?

If I should still download 280.26 instead of the new 285 then please answer this:
I understand you need a modded .inf file for 280.26? Why is this the case if NVIDIA offers it on their website as WHQL?

I was given a link to a site to download both so I do not have to modify anything manually (I do not even know where the .inf file is) but it has many disclaimers which makes me worry about things like voiding the warranty or something going wrong.

EXACTLY where do I put the modded .inf file?

come on how many threads. give people time to answer. i posted in another thread of yours where to put modded inf

run setup first and it should fail.
download modded inf driver and put it in here
    C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\280.26\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver
    run setup again.

if you are updating to new beta driver people say you dont need a modded inf file.im not sure as i am still running 280.26

That you have to Run the setup first, it doesnt exist because of 2 reason, one: your Windows Drive is not at C, second: you install the driver on the diff drive.

Usually most driver Will install on the Windows Drive (Default is C)
