So I went on google and tried to update my driver. I clicked one of the top links and it was called "driverdetective". Once it finished downloading it noticed a problem and it recommended that I updated my driver. But before I could, I had to register and of course it costed money.

Isn't there a way to do this for free and please give step to step instructions on how.

    I really appreciate it.

Driver for what piece of hardware, specifically?

I'd also run a virus and spyware scan on your computer, pronto. Never, ever, ever use such programs.

For Free? All Driver is FREE to download at Dell Driver Download page, at M14x Drivers and Downloads

Those programs are viruses, spywares or malware include, it design to lure inexperience user to install it and spread the viruses. Like Saturnotaku said, Never ever EVER install those programs.

OKay thank you both for warning me.

I went to the link and so I don't mess up, what do I do exactly? (I'll try to figure it out while waiting for a response but I don't really know what I'm doing  )

Out of curiosity was this before or after you clicked on the banner for being the 1,000 visitor on the same website and you won a new ipad2?

Well, they are all safe to install i suppose, because all it do is to either update your current driver or just reinstall the existing one.

Also if you were having some problem with particular program, say an audio problem, you can go there and download the original driver and install it.

Most driver you found there, usually also include with the Resource DVD receive when you get your laptop. But it just that the one on the website is the updated/latest one.
