So I am new to the site and a new owner of the m14x. I must say I love it, although I dont know much about laptops or computer.

So I am sitting here trying to find the magic way to hook up my laptop to my tv using an HDMI cord. Its the same one I use for my ps3. I have also tried 2 other HDMI cords, they just don't sync or whatever they do? Am I missing soming?

After plugging in the HDMI cable, try Press Windows Key + P and switch to extend, duplicate, or projector only.

I'm not sure if this relate or not (And I feel lazy to create a new one), but I also have a problem with the HDMI cable, but it did sync after I hook it up, however for some reason the screen doesnt seem to be fit on the TV, and no matter what resolution I try it just does not fit. It actually left out, i'll upload the picture.

But if I hook the VGA cable in, it fit nicely although the thing I dont like about the VGA cable is the limited screen resolution limiting to 1366x768.

I took this using the Snapping tools, because if I use the Print screen, it does seem to capture all the display area, I hope you get what I'm talking about.

And this is when I hook the VGA Cable in.

Check options in Intel graphics control panel regarding overscan.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but I don't want to create another one either.

Anyway to keep the external display active when you close the lid? It keeps on turning off every single time I close the lid.

    Hmm.

im going to try it all tonight. I just thought it wasnt going to be this complicated. On all my other laptops all I had to do was plug it in. Same TV same HDMI cable.

@ConfusedUK. You'll need to go into your control panel and power settings and change the "Choose what closing the lid does" option to "Do Nothing".

As for the other issues they should all be solved by changing your options in the "Intel Graphics Conrol Panel" right click on your desktop for that menu.

Of course you will need your TV to be on the correct input for any of this to work! ;)

Dont change the Intel graphics settings. The IGP doesnt support HDMI and the m14x switches to the 555M on HDMI. Go into the NVIDIA control panel and mess around
