So just opened it out of the box , plugged it in .. and went to run the WEI test to see my scores.. When it gets to the last part assessing the hard drive it basically just crashes my computer and forces me to shut down the computer without giving any scores whatsoever... What you guys think? Did I receive a defected hard drive or whats going on ??

    chkdsk x: /f /r

where "x" is the drive letter you want to scan (start with c). It may tell you to restart before it can scan. If windows finds bad sectors it will attempt to move the data to another location. If it finds bad sectors, then your hard drive is (obviously) bad.

    Hi ChaddyRom,

Running a chkdsk as xGeorgexBp says is a great idea. Also, test the hardware by running an ePSA, here's the info on how to do it. Let me know how it goes.

So yeh the chkdsk failed on step 5/5 and now when I turn the laptop on , it can't even find the hard drive and no diagnostics work on it.. Nothing works on it anymore.. Great.. Now I gotta send it back and wait another few weeks for another one.

Nah, they can just send you a new HD, or have a tech come install one. Will be a super fast and easy fix.
