I'm really frustrated to the point of me wanting to return this stupid laptop. I can't get any of my games to switch over to the GT 555m graphics card on my M14x laptop. I bought this for gaming, not to run the horrible intel integrated graphics chip. How can I either disable the integrated card or make my games recognize that I have an actually useful bit of hardware in this laptop?

I'm still running the 267.21 driver, every time I try to update to the latest version, the installer says I don't have the correct hardware.

Have you tried adding your games to the "whitelist" in the nvidia control panel?

Right click on the desktop> click manage 3d settings. Here you can add which programs you want the gfx card to be used for, just add whatever you want to the list. Also you can click on top where it says desktop and check "add run with gfx processor to context" this allows you to right click on most programs before launching them and you can choose to run with either the IGP or the nvidia gfx card.

You don't need to download any driver to do this.

Just do it manually. Right click the program or game you want to open and choose whether to use intel gpu or high performance card.

That's really cool. I don't have a problem with whitelisting or even the auto detect but I never knew you could do that. Good to know.

You need to download a custom .inf file in order to download it.

What are the benefits of the new nvidia drivers and what are the necessary steps to upgrade? There is no clear answer on the dell site and tech support sucks when it comes to things like this

New drivers are generally a bit more optimised and might get you a few more fps.

Yes, but I also had problems with whitelisting when I updated to the newer drivers (using a modified INF). Install was ok, but programs ran on Intel graphics whatever I tried. Back to dell drivers

What games are you trying to play? Because all of my game are able to play through the Nvidia GPU with the whitlisting stuff (on the Dell's stock version), except for GTA4 which need to update to 275.33.

The game I play and able to whitelist are: Bad Company 2, Black Ops, C&C 3 TW/KW, SC2, Supreme Commander 2, BF Play 4 Free, BattleForge, Medal of Honor, Crysis 1/2, etc...
