I have just bought a m14x but I got confused and bought a 720p instead of the 900p screen. I have read some reviews of the 720p and it doesn't seem like a nice display for the purpose I wanted it ,I feel terrible because it was a stupid mistake. Is there any way that I can upgrade it to 900p after I recive it? Maybe if I buy the 900p screen and then replace it myself or take it somewhere ... Please help me :)

You can but it would be much more expensive than ordering the upgrade from factory.

When did you place the order? Perhaps you can still modify it?

I would recommend without hesitation to contact a Dell Representative on online chat or phone about this issue. They should be able to change or cancel your order as you are not charged for your order until it has shipped (at least when I ordered mine).

Personally If I was in your situation and worst came to worst and the laptop shipped I would simply sell it. Changing the screen as far as I know is A-Risky and B-expensive.

    Good luck on this issue.

I also wouldn't go for the 16 gb of RAM. It's a bit excessive unless you have a specific purpose for it. I have 6 gb and it's fine for me. If you want extra you could go with 8 or 12 then use the money you saved to upgrade the GPU to 2 gb. IMO that's a better use of your money.

Isn't the 2gb gpu like a chocolate teapot?

Or is it more use in the r2 than r1?

It depends on your screen resolution. My GF was running 900p and her pinterest gobbled up a ton of RAM. I ran a test and opened up 60 browser tabs with videos and FB games and pinterest across 3 browsers and Windows 8 showed 8.7gb in use. I ordered 16gb for her machine and turned off her pagefile.sys to free up room on her 64gb MSATA. I also disabled hibernation and that freed up a ton of space too. Her laptop boots from cold to password screen in ~7-8sec so hibernation is not really needed.
