I have an old m14x R1. I have tried several ways of installing and uninstalling Nvidia driver but the Nvidia control panel does not open and says "You are not currently using a display attached to an nvidia gpu".
Device manager says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)".

I have tried several driver from 285 to the newest 320, even flash the bios back to A05 then flash to A08 but no luck. :(

    Please help!!!!

:( for me it looks that you have a dead nvidia graphic in there, never happen to me, hope is not, you try to do a clean install and see if that fixes it?

Do the diagnostic test at the start, when you turn on your laptop.

When my HD was failing,it showed up in the test,if your GPU is in trouble it will show something to.

I have run the diagnostic test with no error, all is green.
Is there any other way to test if this is hardware problem? My 14x warranty is expired!!! :(

I would recommend you to flash the BIOS to the latest version, then follow this article to do a clean video driver installation. Remember to use only the DELL drivers and to install the Intel driver first from DELL.com

It happens to me once overclocking, I over overclocked the gpu and got a blue screen after this the invidia control panel was not working and the gpu was not detected, neither in the device manager or in the bios, the same symptoms and errors your are describing. After a little freakout what I did was to remove the battery, connect the charger to the computer with the battery removed, press and hold the power button for 1 minute then release. The computer will turn on without the battery it will not harm the computer. After this the gpu was working fine, then turn off the computer put the battery back and you are ready. I learned this from a Alienware technician once
