Okay first things first, i know the m14x has some heating issues, i am on the original not R2.

My brother and i recently purchased the exact same computer, the only thing differing was the color.
His computer runs perfectly, using a game we are playing at the moment, Tribes Ascend, his computer will run on highest graphics almost silently for as long as he plays, and his computer sits at around 78 degrees whist playing, instantly cooling to around 50-60 straight after.

My fans begin screaming at me the moment i get into the game, and within the first 2-3 minutes the CPU temperatures will be 90+ degrees, heating up to 98-99 within the first 10 minutes and i also have my graphics on LOW settings. There must be something seriously wrong with this as how can this be a gaming laptop that can't game. There is such a big difference in his computer compared to my computer, his runs almost silently and efficiently at around 80 degrees while gaming only high graphics, compared to mine which will be scarily hot while im still in the login screen.
I would like to be able to play games on this computer, as it isn't cheap and shouldn't overheat like a 98 windows trying to play 2010+ games.
Please help, this is really ridiculous,
    Pistolboy:.

That sounds like the difference between the r1 and the r2 to me. Though it is too extreme in this case. I think the r1 was outdated from the start, but what do I know...? Hope you didn't pay much...

R1 used to be on high 90's, all you can do is: repaste, lift it up, get a notebook cooler*, disable turbo boost.

If you have customer support available just call them up about the problem. they usually replace the heatsink. you could also buy your own thermal paste and ask them to use the one you have instead of their stock paste. Greenfield already stated the quickfixes(turbo boost and cooler). See if it helps. I did a repaste and bought a cooler and my temps max out at 85 w/ turbo boost. It get's lower in the night when it gets a little cooler.

Hi, we have a detailed article that has tips to keep temps under control. Clean the vents with compressed air and make sure there's nothing blocking them while the system is in use. Tilt the system a little to ensure a good airflow.
But, you guys are right, re-pasting can significantly drop the temps.

Will repasting void the warranty i purchased that cost around $400 US? and i'm just confused as to how his can run on higher graphics then mine and run on temperatures significantly(20ish) degrees lower than mine even though our computers are identical.
    Thanks,
    Pistolboy:.

Some people like to re-paste with their own thermal compound and there's nothing wrong with that. If no component is damaged as a result of re-pasting, then it won't void your warranty.
You can upgrade RAM, HDD or other components and it won't void your warranty as long as no part is broken because of the upgrade.
