    I ordered my laptop with the 500GB hard drive. Would it be a better choice to upgrade this to the 750 when I can afford it or just get an external?

    Upgrade it to a ssd when you can afford it, then get a 1tb external.

    Whats so special about the SSD? Just a curious question.

    they're much much much faster than conventional hard drives, produce less heat, require less power

    SSD is just mega fast, loading time Can be 100 times faster than a rotating disk.

    Once you go SSD, you never go back :D
