I have a M14x R1. The original HD that I got with the computer was a Seagate 750gb 7200rpm drive. Since it started showing the error 2000-0142, I had dell replace the drive and they gave me a Western Digital 750gb 7200 drive.

The new drive keeps slowing down all the downloads, instals and even windows freezes up for a few seconds and this is whether the computer only has the bare minimum installed or is full at over 650gb. I even ran a HD Tune pro test and the attachment is what I get even after multiple tests.

I have been trying to convince dell to replace it but for now but since the drive diagnostics doesn't show any errors they have asked me to DEBUG the drive and reinstall windows which still gives me the same problem. I have even run SeaTools which reaches 90% very quickly on the short test and gets stuck there for a long time.

Could anyone help me figure out what could be the problem (I think its the new hard drive).

What do you get for the error scan in HD Tune? (just do a 'quick scan' first)
