    HUGE disappointment - screen flickering

    I have just received my laptop, turned it on and the screen flickers, like if there is some sort of interference, I really don´t know what to do... :(

    It flickers both on battery and plugged in, and it happened right away as soon as I turned the computer on... already on the loading screen... I am so disappointed...

    Any idea what the hell can it be? Should I call support? :(

    Is it so bad you can't try to update/install another video driver? If so, try a recovery maybe?

    Otherwise I'd say definitely call..

    i got that while flipping from linux and windows.

    unplug it for a couple of hours and wait.

    Nothing like that, it happened to me since the very first out of the box start up.

    Also while I was updating AlienRespawn the screen became totally messed up, like a TV channel that does't work, and I had to force a shutdown :(

    This is really not supposed to happen.

    I'm gonna contact support tomorrow, and see what happens :(

    Called yesterday at 6.00pm, after a confirmation that is a defective GPU (memory most likely), the tech guy tried to forward my call to customer service. I was put on hold, but he got back to me saying that the customer service was closed since 5pm (seriously?!?) and he's gonna contact me today around 1.00pm...

    Do you know if there's any possibility to have a new machine builted and shipped right away (and they can collect the faulty one whne the new one will be delivered) instead of having a refund and the re-ordering and re-purchasing the computer?

    I'm starting to get really pissed off...They didn't call me, I had to call and they sent me back and forth from tech service to cust service, for at least 1 hour.

    Then I had to hang up because I'm working.

    I'll try again this afternoon when I'll get home.

    So far, terrible experience and a complete WASTE of time.

    I just switched from ubuntu back to windows and my screen is flickering too..

    Make a complaint! I've been saying that a lot lately, but if you're paying premium for a premium product, you'd best be getting premium service. Tell them to upgrade it to the 3gb or add some bags in there.

    After the terrible experience I'm having, I think a will never even just visit the dell website again.

    I've never in my life been struggling this much for a return/refund. :(

    That's what we get when we outsource jobs -_- My sales rep was really cool with me when I ordered, getting a $260 discount for my M14X. He lives in Tennessee and I'm about to add him as friend on Facebook lol.

    Just noting... brand new M14x w/ GT 555M 1.5G video... very similar problem... first many crashes related to graphics (during WEI testing) - single color fills whole screen... many times boot to blank screen... closing lid and reopening sometimes brings display back... sometimes not... when screen is up - lot's of flickering... shipping back for repairs tomorrow... hopefully a small percentage have this problem.
