    Hi guys,

I am a total noob. I ordered the Samsung 840 Pro 256 gb SSD. I installed it by following the instruction on one of the instruction thread. Everything was successfully install.

But my laptop doesn't recognize the SSD even after the SSD driver is installed. See attached screen shots. How do I fix that?

I was going to fresh install the window 7, but the Alienspawn keep on reinstall the window 7 on the original C drive instead of the SSD.

I am sorry if it's been mentioned elsewhere. I've been researching several hours but couldn't find any solution. I would greatly apprecate if anyone can help me. with the issue. Thank you so much.

Do you have two HDD on your M14? one of them is msata right? If you have your original C on the computer while installing windows on your new drive it will course problems. Because now your new windows installation is sharing some system files on your old drive.

What you need to do is use the Samsung data migration software. It's really easy. Plug your SSD into the computer with USB adapter. Follow the instructions on the data migration tool. After that's done, take out the original drive and put your new SSD in and boot. It should just work. it did for me.

If you must do a fresh install. then take out your old HDD and do a fresh install. remember to format the old HDD if you want to put it back in.

    Thank you for your reply.

If I do the fresh install window on the SSD. Will I need to replace the C drive with SSD and move the C Drive to where the Optical drive was? I will need the window installation CD right? I didn't get one with my m14x, how do I get a copy?

And how would I format the old HDD?

    Thank you!

    Steve

I dont know where you can legally get a window DVD. I had one shipped with the m17xr3.

After you have backed up everything on your current c you can right lick on the disk and there should be a format option.

But i dont recommend you do a fresh install. There is no reason to with the samsung data migration software, it's there for your convenience why not use it.

PS: Use the new version 2.0 from samsung.
