I connect my external monitor via HDMI which as it seems automatically will use the nvidia card.
This however leads to constant fan noise due to the additional heat.

If I connect the external monitor via VGA only the IGP is used and the laptop stays quiet when doing things like surfing or listening to music.
However, when I do that, the external monitor for some reason is flickering..

So is it somehow possible to get an HDMI output via the integrated graphic card and if so how?

    Thanks,

    Benjamin

I don't think it is possible. I believe that the HDMI output port is on the nVidia gt555m so you have to use the graphic card to get the signal through HDMI.

Mine defaults to the IGP, which runs it flawlessly including sound. Should hear my home theater's sub rock my floors when I turn on dynamic EQ (through the home theater, not through the m14x). You can chose which graphics card will run which program in the settings btw.

All the programs running are set to IGP.
It's windows that is using the GPU..... how do you set windows itself to use IGP for the HDMI output?

When you use your external monitor, do you shut of the integrated monitor or are you using both?
