I just got my m14x less than a week ago. My HDMI out was working fine when I got it, but today it just stopped working... My laptop went into sleep mode and when I woke it up I couldn't get my external display (plugged into HDMI) working again. I've tried multiple displays and multiple HDMI wires and nothing works. I installed all the latest divers and still no luck. Has anyone out there experienced a similar issue?

    Thanks.

How long does it generally take to RMA a laptop?

Does NVIDIA control panel recognize that an external display was plugged in?

It didn't. I even tried to perform the Rigorous Display Detection when clicking "My display is not shown..."

I did however manage to get it working again. So it would appear to be a software/driver issues as opposed to a hardware issue. My fix, although I don't know the exact cause yet, was to re-imaged my laptop using the Alienware recovery disk + reinstalling all drivers. The display didn't start working until I installed the nvidia drivers, which didn't work when I first reinstalled them prior to re-imaging.

I just found out the solution.

    I went to device manager,
clicked on the Nvidia GeForce GT555M
    right click and clicked properties
    clicked the Driver tab
and saw the device is Disabled.
Once i clicked Enabled the Hdmi external display worked again!

    Weird..
