So I got my lovely m14x last night and got League of Legends up and running on it fairly quickly. I was getting 60fps solid with all settings on very high and shadows off at 1600x900.

Today when I turned it on I had about 25 small windows updates that needed to be installed most of which were security related. I did notice one had to do with the Intel Graphics. I fired up LoL tonight and I can't seem to break 40fps whatsoever. I have made sure the game is whitelisted in the Nvidia 3D menu and I can even see that it is running off of the Nvidia card from the icon in the lower right tray.

What do you think has happened? Should I uninstall the Intel Integraded driver and re-download the one on Dell's driver site?

    Thanks for any help.

    Mike

Do you have it plugged in? I noticed my fps halved when I tried to play games unplugged versus plugged in.

Yeah I had it plugged in both times, and I made sure today the power management profile was on high performance.

I do have Vsync checked. Should I be looking for anything else? I mean, 40fps is definitely playable but I had 60fps so I don't know why it is being capped at 40 for some reason.

Open the intel graphics options and make sure its set to 60hz not 40hz... had a similar problem on mine.

Thanks, I will check that when I get home from work tonight. Seeing that it changed after a driver update to the Intel card happened you are probably right.

I didn't know that the refresh rate would lower the fps though, good to know!

When you have vsync on the fps will limit to whatever your refresh rate is. That's what prevents the tearing. So if you have it at 40hz with vsync on it will only go to 40fps max. Also, another note, while you are on the battery it switches to 40hz. When you plug it in it should switch back to 60.

Is 60Hz the highest that the M14x monitor will go?

Thank you sir, this was exactly the problem. Switched it to 60hz and I was back to normal. Now on to the next problem lol.
