Well I figure I will bite the bullet and shell out the cash for the ssd. I will follow titans guide and get the same caddy from eBay. Thinking about going for the m4 ssd...good choice or any other suggestions?

Nice not too bad I will look into that. Keep in mind I don't necessarily need the fastest thing just best bang for my buck but that's a good price

I use the Vertex 2, depending if your in the uk or not they can be found fairly cheap on ebay, seen a few pop up at a good price.

Although there are faster, you wont really notice it while in game etc plus there still very fast and havent had any issues with mine.

Corsair force 3 is having some serious quality issues IIRC, go for an intel 320/510 or the new crucial m4.

I've got the Crucial C300 in mine. It's still a good performer.

Yea the price isn't too bad, I will look at some of the others that people have mentioned as well. Also, because its new I'm not sure if I would run into any major problems?? Still having a difficult time if its worth it or not to drop the money on it though. I mean, I am not a huge gamer, and I am a pretty average laptop user so I am still debating, but I have a $100 dollar amazon gift card that I could use so It would only be like $150 more tops

Also, what caddy would you guys recommend?

Ya its nice just for start up times and the fact that it doesnt move so the data you have on in it stable from like a fall or something.

either ordering that one you suggested in a matter of minutes tonight or might wait till tomorrow morning :). I am assuming 120gb should be more than plenty paired up with the 500gb HD?

I have a 160 now, still wish they did 160 and 180 for ssds. 240 is just not worth double for me.

i would recommend if you can buying a hard drive caddy or external hard drive enclosure to be able to store games on. I have 94 gb used on my hard drive right now with like both mass effects street fighter starcraft 2, fable and bfbc 2 on it with my music and pictures. And i use an external enclosure for when I want to play other games.

Yes I am planning on getting a caddy and following Titan's guide for installing a second hard drive. I currently have 60gb taken up on my desktop and thats with two games, rift and minecraft. I mean what is the point of having the SSD if you can't take advantage of it and you can only put a few things on it?

Yeah, thats why you put your games and necessary programs on the SSD, and all your music, photos, documents, and videos on the optical drive with your HDD, because that stuff doesnt really matter how fast it loads. But when ur playing games or starting up sometype of program, anything that you want to be fast and smooth and save your laptop power consumption, you put on the SSD.

Yea thanks, I understood that for the most part, but still haven't had my question answered haha, is 120-128GB enough for 2-3 games and necessary programs (Like I said I have 60gb used on my desktop, I don't have a whole lot of stuff)?

Well if your 3 games and few other crap only take up 60gb then yeah 128gb would be fine and remember u gotta operate like 10% below the max gb so 128 will be around 117gb, but anyway im going for the crucial m4 128gb and then my 500gb hdd will be in optical drive. I only got one game tho but its wow, so it takes up like 32gb with all my addons and , il be getting brink too for my pc in time, but thats not much either. Besides my games and necessary programs i need for speed, everything else is gonna chill on the HDD, so i figure il have plenty of room to get the best out of my SSD for the most money. The problem is, after 128gb theres only 160gb and 180gb which are from ocz or w.e and that company is , so many people have problems with their SSDs, the next reliable SSDs are up at 200+ and really on my desktop with all my junk and 4 users i only have 230gb used, so 200gb for my personal laptop i know i would not fill up. Correction however the only reliable decent one i know is the intel one for 160gb which is probably a really good capacity to have but its a bit too pricey. IMO for me i think the 128gb is enough so hopefully you can then tell whats best for you.

Yea well its either 120-128gb or nothing.... anything over 200 GB is like $400. Thanks for your help though! Its either between the new Crucial 120GB one of the 128GB m4, what do you guys think?

128gb i would go with its cheaper and u get more capacity. Especially if your gonna have all 3 of those games and possibly any new ones that would come out.

Yes the crucial m4 128 and the new corsair series that just came out...posted earlier in this thread its 120 gb but its 10 or so bucks cheaper and I believe one of the fastest ones on the market right now

Yes only problem is like u said it just came out, i doubt anyone knows the reliability of it. Like the OSZ brand or w.e have extremely fast SSDs but there known to die like really freakin fast, many people have had problems with them just after the first month. Believe me im trying to decide as well im between those 2 as well but im leaning a bit towards the m4 b.c more capacity, amazing reliability, and how much faster can the corsair be..like honestly if its 1 or 2 seconds i could care less. But then again if indeed it is faster, its cheaper, and who knows if it does have great reliability then we have a whole nother scenario.
