So my girlfriend ordered a M14x last week.
The new M14x revision came out 2 days ago.
She got the R1 in the mail today.

Also, my girlfriend wanted the Fire Red but Dell had called the day after ordering to tell her that they did not have it any more.
That is what pisses us off the most because Dell did not bother to tell her about the new laptops coming out and why they had stopped the Fire Red!

I'm pretty sure she even paid more than what it would cost for the laptop than it does now. I don't think by too much though.

    What do?

Dare I mention that when we got the laptop, I had to wipe the Windows installation. After attempting to install our school's Cisco VPN software, we noticed a ton of problems with the machine. Not only would the VPN refuse to work, but Windows Services was giving us hell. I could not even access the Services.msc control panel it was so borked. I spent over 6 hours redoing this entire installation and scouring for drivers because the disk included is outdated, and the windows install disc has nothing on it.

What sucks about that is the turn around. It's quite an inconvenience.

The ship dates on M14xs are now May 15th.
I'd also hve to ship this back.

Is that wait worth it? Or is the "call up Dell and complain" worth it either? I mean, she could but it will probably end up me calling them up and Im so sick and tire of it with my M18x it isn't funny anymore. Ever since I got it, the thing has been trouble.

Everytime me, or someone I know orders Dell, something about shipping delays or hardware issues occur. It always results in inconvenience now -.-

Similar thing hapened to me =/
I ordered my m14xr1 about 2 weeks ago then found out on thursday the 2012 r2 has been released! My m14xr1 was still in the pre production stage so i rang up dell and told them my issue, the rep cancelled my m14xr1 order and helped me configure my r2 version!
Best thing is he let me keep my discounts i had on my m14xr1 order (18%) student and a 10% coupon!

The only con is that now the laptop will take even longer to come, my EDD is may the 16th...

    Goodluck with your issue :)

I must be blessed as I've never had any problems with Dells computers or service.

As far as Dell letting there employee's know about the upcoming new releases I'm sure that they did, but they still have to sell the current product as some of the sale reps will make commision on what they sell.

We've been saying that the new releases were coming out, but there really won't be that much of a performance issue until the new video cards come out later this summer, so it's matter of getting now or waiting.

If it was a few weeks earlier it would be understandable.
But this was a week and a half ago. And they even bothered to call us to say that Fire Red was unavaible despite already placing the order.

We also had called again later to verify the order was still okay, because Ive had Dell cancel my M18x order AFTER it had been shipped and was in my area ready for delivery just because they called us and we didnt pick up the phone due to being away that weekend. They didnt even send it back, had to wait for them to rebuild one and send that instead a MONTH later.
