    Gap on top of the screen...Is it always like this??

    Just got my new alienware m14x ....Thr is a Gap on top of the screen ...between the plastic border and the display ( as in when i look at the screen i can see a black patch between the lcd and the plastic body)....Is it always like this??

    Can u take a real picture? Not a screenshot.

    I have a gap as well, not as big as yours though.

    on the camera ..the gap ..wouldnt show up...anyways i tried clicking....if you have a look closely at the photograph...right from where my fingers are on the phone...to half of the camera lens on the iphone....lemme know what you think about it ..thanks Imageshack - gapphoto.jpg

    Edit: BTW...i switched my wallapaper and turns out its not a black patch.....but...just that my windows wont go completely on top...cause when change the wallpaper to blue.......the patch turns blue too.. :p (phew a relief i think)

    Looking at the picture, the gap seems big enough to call dell...

    Do you have a gap at bottom of the lcd as well?? If not, maybe the lcd is not centered properly :confused:

    ok now when i change the wallpaper...the color of the gap also changes...which means....its just that my windows are not resizing properly...cause my desktop wallpaper ....fits till the top ..but when i open my computer it dosent.. :)

    any suggestions??

    Found a solution...thr is a process called TOASTER.EXE that needs to be killed...if you have a gap on the screen...i also read this somewhere on another thread :D

    Tried and it worked:

    Here is the way to get rid of the process toaster.exe and you don't need to kill it every time your computer starts:

    Open control panel
    Double click on the ‘Administrative Tools’
    Double click on the ‘Services’
    Scroll down and find the ‘SoftThinks Agent Service’, double click on it. In the pop-up window, change the startup type to ‘Disabled’, and then click ‘OK’.
    Restart your computer, problem solved .

    Surprisingly i just killed it once and it dint pop back again...i think it had something to do with alienware respawn

    Mine is xps 15, so have to disable the service.
