I noticed today that games keep freezing on me. I press alt+tab and I see a message that says the driver failed but was successfully recovered. This is getting annoying and I was wondering if this is a problem with the GPU or the driver. I've had GPU problems before.

It first happened when I was playing Red Orchestra 2 but now is happening when I play Dayz. Dayz used to run fine for hours on end.

id bet driver issue. uninstall ur nvidia drivers and then run somthing like CCleaner (both clean and registry fix) to make sure all traces of it are gone. Then install it again either the official release or latest beta ones. if the same thing is still happening then maybe consider getting ur card checked

Well it seems like the problem stopped happening again. If it starts freezing again I'll try this.

This is a good idea, also you can check if there's a new BIOS version for your Alienware model. Check for updates this way. This also can help you with that occasional freezing. Hope it was an isolated issue though.
