    Hi i am still locking for my AW machine i was thinking is DELL (AW) M14x will be able to upgrade to Ivy Bridge CPU ?
    i was thinking about i7-2612QM
    and GPU also latter upgrad to some 6 series GeForce ?
    how you thin m14x could be able to upgrade or not just stuck to SB CBU ?
    what are your thoughts?

    or i need just what for new chipset and new CPU

    Supposedly, Ivy Bridge for notebooks will not be backwards compatable, so you will be stuck with Sandy Bridge for now. There was an m11x thread once where a guy tried to put the R3 motherboard and such in an R2 chassis but I dont think it worked in the end, so unless someone tried for the M14x and such its kind of impossible. The GPU is soldered onto the motherboard so its also impossible to upgrade, but motherboard replacements are POSSIBLE.

    I got the three year warranty and actually hope one day Ill have to use it and get an R2/R3 replacement. Thatd be sweet.

    i thin is US its is posible nut not in europe to after time get upgrede to new systems model.

    i also would love to upgrade my E6400 to E6420

    i am thinkig it was not able to upgre also from last generation i7-720QM i5-520M etc cpu

    but it was able to upgrade from P4 to Core 2 Duo

    i thin intel have all planed it all out

    I think its more common on Alienware systems. Ive heard of some m11x r1 owners getting low end R3s and some M17x r2 owners getting r3s and even m18x's sometimes. This is usually only common when you have multiple problems in a row, like if you have it broken, and then get 2 DOA's.
