I ordered my Alienware 14 on Monday through my EPP. Said it would ship out Tuesday and I opted for overnight shipping. First the order was put on hold because they couldn't verify my account, which we cleared up Monday night. Then the laptop made it out of Production to be shipped Wednesday night. So come Thursday, no laptop shows up. Thursday night my wife gets an email saying that there's been a new tracking number created. So it gets shipped out Thursday night and will be here Friday. Well the FedEx truck normally comes around lunch time. I was eagerly awaiting some sort of tracking update and finally decided i'd just go to lunch. As I walk outside the building, I see the Fedex truck and he leaves. Talk to our shipping departmnet and they say that he got a message saying not to deliver it until 8/6 now. What the heck?1!?

Now I follow the truck to talk to the delivery guy, see my laptop, and his CO won't let him release the package. Call my wife to get her to talk to Dell. Dell says they can have it delivered Monday at the earliest, even though it's ON THE TRUCK! The call up Fedex, Fedex says they can hold at their location, that it's not on the truck. I SAW WITH MY OWN TWO EYES! Now Fedex says I can drive 1.5 hours to their facility to pick up tonight, even though truck driver is in the area until a couple of hours from now. This is insane.

Man that just sounds crazy.. Even though I´d probably blame Fedex more than Dell, it´s still unacceptable either way.

It's Dell's doing. They put a hold on the package. They explicitly stated through their One Call department to only release it via customer pickup, in person. This is insanity.

It's a legal matter. It has to be delivered by FedEx to your front door. Otherwise, you can claim it never arrived and then they're screwed.

Not sure why you're complaining over waiting an extra day or two. You're lucky in comparison to most of us. Sometimes we have to wait weeks.
