This question is for those coming from much larger notebooks running at resolutions higher than 1080p. How has your experience been going to the m14x?

Is the screen big enough for your gaming and productivity needs? I know many members here end up plugging in an external monitor, however space is an issue for me. My gf who currently owns an m11x is considering upgrading to either an m14x or m17x, ideally she'd like to to stay somewhat small, but the higher resolution and larger display of the m17x is drawing her in. I'd like to hear your opinions on this :D

Well personally I came from a 15.6in screen and even though its not too much of a difference, I was extremely skeptical about the smaller screen size. However!..Once I had my M14x for a day or so I realized how much better it actually was. I mean it looks amazing for one but also the portability cant be beat for the power it packs. I thought about an M17x myself but after looking at my Moms 17in GW I realized 17in just isnt for me. If youre looking for a desktop replacement a M17x or M18x would DEF be recommended but for true Mobility, go with the M14x. Once you own one you will be nothing but amazed with it.

Oh and yes its been way better than expected for my gaming needs. especially if she is coming from an M11x your GF will Love this machine and not regret it. Also, you can trick the M14x out for a lot cheaper than the M17x...jus sayin

For me it was huge, not only because of the screen quality being much worse but also the size took some getting use too.

Going back to my 21.5 inch monitor I don't miss it!

But you get use to it, especially if your on the go, that 14"s will be your best friend.

I wish the contrast Ratio and color were more vivid :(

Thanks guys. I think I'll order an r2, if she doesn't like it then I'll just return it. or just keep it for myself lol. You've always swayed me to try the m14x as well :)

This may help. My M14x vs my old G72GX

    ASUS G72GX vs M14x comparison

Sorry for the quality. This is before I got a good camera. Should still give you a good idea of a 17 inch laptop (m17x) versus the M14x

I've had 17.3" gaming laptops for the better part of my gaming life and 14.1" is the smallest main-machine that I've owned.

I think its fantastic and haven't noticed a huge difference. My last big laptop was the G73JW-3DE and it was a nuisance packing/unpacking and "setting up" at school several times a day. The M14X is the best of both worlds - performance & travel-friendly.

Not only do I game on my M14X, but I also use several music production tools in my sig, adobe products and sony vegas. Never had an issue working with any of these products for an extended period of time. It's THE perfect laptop.

In my opinion, its a huge difference. My m14x feels like a netbook compared to it. But its all up to you :)
