Hey everyone, I just got my m14x the other day and following the guide on the site installed a HyperX 240 GB SSD as primary and the 500GB WD Black it came with in the optical drive caddy. At first I was getting I/O errors constantly and about 3MB/s on the 2nd HDD. I read a couple post about others having the same issue, to fix it I just installed the IRST drivers that came with the m14x and it has worked flawlessly since. Hope this helps some of you!

Do you get SATA 6Gbps speeds with RST installed? +REP (haha your first post)

I didn't test without the IRST drivers, but after Im getting Sata II speeds. I think Ive seem somewhere else on the forum that w/o the IRST you get 6Gbps is that correct?

I would like to know too if you can achieve sata 6Gbs on the hyperx ssd without hanging issues. Mine is also running sata 2 speed and I want to take advantage of the read and write of this ssd

Just wanted to update this post, I still haven't changed my setup so using IRST and I downloaded AS SSD benchmark and it seems even though IRST says my SSD is sata 2 its getting sata 3 speeds 506 read and 290 write so I think i will leave well enough alone...
