Ok, so i have a strange problem. It is as follows: When i'm plugged in with my alienware external monitor, running 1080p resolution, everything is fine and dandy. This is how i have it set up most of the time. Then a couple of days ago, two weeks after i got my motherboard and battery replaced, i had to take it over to a friend to do some school stuff. Then when i turn it on, i'ts just black screen, after its' done the windows loading, and bios startup thing. I then reboot because, that was really strange. Then i pops up with the lowest resolution it can do. I then go in and try and change it to 900p, and it goes dark. If i play a song when i do it, it keeps playing, so it's no the computer freezing up, its something to do with the screen. I've tried doing a full format of the pc, nothing helps. One time, i actually got it to stay at 900p no problem, but the problem was back when i rebooted. Anyone got any sugestions? I think i've tried everything.

Have you looked at your Intel HD Graphics controls. You can get to them either through your Control Panel or there may be an icon in your system tray. It may be you have external monitor selected for display.

Nah, it aint that. I've tried everything with the settings. Through windows, through intels HD graphic software. It seems like a problem with the HD graphics. Because my external monitor runs purely on the GT555, or so it says in the Nvidia settings. I'm able to force it to 900p resolution sometimes, if after i select the 900p res, imedietly shut down the lid, so it starts hibernating, and then opening it up again. Then i can get it to 900p. If i then reboot, it goes back to the lowest res possibly, refusing to stay at 900p. It's super strange. I'll give dell support a call tomorrow og the next day. Pretty busy in school atm :/
