How many of you R1 owners have played Far Cry 3 on your laptops? The game seems to run but very slow for me. I heard there was an update for it that increases the frame rate but I haven't tried it yet.

Also which version of the graphics drivers are you guys using and possibly list the settings which will make it run smoothly without looking too ugly.

I been running it on a DX11 mode on Windows 8.

So can the R1 handle farcry3 or is it losing its juice to compete?

555m is old and a little slow now, and if you want to get some decent frames per sec at 900p with a demanding first person shooter game, gotta have at least a ddr3 gt 650m.

I'm playing using high settings and the game works fine most of the time. Issues I've come across are:

*Lagging when a lot of action is happening in the game
*Crashing during automated save and load sequences

    Running Windows 7
    Nvidia GT 555

Hey, yeah I have it. It runs pretty good for me, I had to switch from DirectX 11 back to DirectX 9 in setting though, because on DX11 it ran like s***.

Me too! Pretty good result according to the high demanding type of game.. I'm satisfied with how the M14X handles FC3!

Can also confirm that it runs pretty good on Medium with DX9.
I run it on Low though, since I like the game to almost never slow down. (Happens a bit when driving).

Make sure you use the latest 310.97 drivers, those did increase performance a bit.

I ran the game with DX11 on mostly Medium setting except for texture which is high. At 900p I can get between 40-50fps, but it will dip down to 25-30 at times, so now I play at 768p at the same setting, and I got 50-60fps and is using the 310.70. Oh one thing I would like to mention is that I overclock the 555M as seen in my sig below.
