I have 2 alternatives at the moment:

SpeedFan > SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer and SpeedFan Beta Program

SpeedFan: The last beta 4.44 beta 4 recognizes the fan on the M14x and can control the fans. Unfortunately, this is not fine enough:
    33% > 0 rpm
    34% > 3400 rpm > loud...

    HWINFO32 > HWiNFO32 Download

HWINFO32 is a great program too. In the last beta hw32_374_1252 > freezing the fan control after about 20 minutes

Do you have a fan controller that works properly?

PS: Sorry for my bad English...

Unfortunately the author of HWiNFO was banned from NBR for a silly reason and he can't reply.

Here's an excerpt from another forum where he gives support and accepts requests

"it seems that all the Compal based fan control causes conflicts with the EC/ACPI

It's an issue of the Embedded Controller (EC) communication protocol which is not well designed - there doesn't seem to be a synchronization method in case more clients (HWiNFO32, Windows ACPI system, etc.) want to talk to the EC at the same time, so this can cause conflicts with unexpected behaviour.

Since there isn't a synchronization method, the only advise I can make is to disable sensor readings which use the EC communication, however in this case you will not see those values reported by the EC. To do this, go to the Sensor status screen, right-click the COMPAL EC sensor and select "Disable monitoring". I think this might improve the situation considerably."

Oh my God - I do not understand that. He is yet a real professional.
Can you invite him for not again here?

If I switch EC-support off, unfortunately also the ability to control the fan is missing. I tried it right now.

NBR does not ban for 'silly reasons' mfractal.

From time to time the site administrators and forum moderators are tasked with the duty of banning forum members who have violated discussion forum rules.

Over the years we've had to ban numerous members (sometimes newcomers and sometimes senior members) for offenses. Although forum member history is always taken into account by admins and mods, we must enforce our forum rules in order to foster an open and productive discussion community.

We do not take the action of banning forum members lightly, and in those cases where such action must be taken you can rest assured that the banned individual has violated the forum rules. We also feel an obligation not to have discussions related to specific banned members (and to remove such discussions) because they are no longer here to speak for themselves and there is genuinely little that needs to be said beyond "they were banned for violation of the forum rules."

We don't always catch every single violation of the rules the instant that it occurs, but the admins and moderators strive to keep the forums running well and serve as a great place to get help with notebooks.

Please follow the rules for the forums when you post here on NotebookReview.com. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact one of the Administrators or Moderators.

cluster, at this time, there isn't a single app out there which is going to permit proper control of fan(s) when overriding the BIOS. The fan table is stored in the system BIOS. Best to let the BIOS handle fan control.

If you have further questions, on the M14x and fans/temps, please post here:
