Does anyone have a copy of the factory image they can bt/host? My power loss issue has now claimed my hard drive. Luckily writing all zeroes fixed the damaged sectors on the drive, but my respawn image does not work...

Did you make a respawn backup? if you didn't theres is nothing you can do now. Each image is unique to a system. because each hardware has different HW ID etc. so you cant use image of any other system on yours.

Can you explain further about how it is not working? Is it showing any error while loading ? or system does not read it ?

I guess he already has Windows 7 DVD that came with the System. he specificaly asked for the factory image which in his case, is not available and the only copy he made is not working.

The system does not recognize the image, although I can confirm its existence using a linux live cd. It may be corrupt.

You cannnot just run the image . you have to boot the system throught the DVD. on boot, press F12, choose DVD Drive ( while the Image dvd is still inside) and boot. It will automatically take you to the restore screen.

Are you using USB-stick or something similar?

Try using any other port, the USB on the left side.

The right side USB ports can give you problem when booting something from them.

i understand this. it does not matter which method i use to try and recover, whether its using the respawn-made recovery disc, the os disc recovery options, or the recovery options from the bootable partition (i always thought using the f8 recovery options were more convenient than inserting a disc any way.) images i have created on usb drives work fine, but they are not factory images.

The reason to that is because of the M14x's motherboard is not natively support the USB 3.0 like good old USB 2.0, it need driver to get that USB 3 working thus you have to get to Windows to get it work.

i know. the issue is not related to the usb port. i have only tried recovery from the 2.0 port.
