So, I just got my M14x today, and I love it, I am running wow on ultra at 60fps, with no problems at all. But i wondered if the FPS on the m14x is locked somehow, cause no matter what resolution or quality i put the game on, i still only get 60fps. I should go way up on FPS when i drop the quality down, but it stays the same!? Any thoughts of what I am missing?
Thanks,
BeeJ

Sure 24 FPS is fine if you're in a field by yourself as a recon/sniper (FPS), have 1 harvester collecting ore (RTS), are solo questing at 3AM (MMORPG), etc.
End-game content, late game battles, graphic intensive effects and so on is what players are generally concerned about
Tips to improve FPS is
- Vsync OFF
- Shadows Low or Medium
For MMORPG's such as WoW for example, if you configure both of the above settings as well as use "Windowed Mode", followed by a double click on the top bar to expand the window into windowed-full screen mode, that will double your FPS -
Having anything above 60FPS is pointless. " i can runz game at 600fps!!1". Who cares? If you're mostly getting 60FPS or more, you may as well turn V-Sync on. It won't hurt, and it'll eliminate any tearing, if/when it occurs.
As for your eyes being able to see up to 300FPS? Well that's fantastic, if you have a monitor that can run at 300Hz. This one doesn't. It runs at 60Hz. -

When I played WoW, long long ago, I always used vsync and tripple buffering since it eliminated any tearing when spinning around or panning quickly. You aren't going to notice anything over 60 fps anyways, so as long as your GPU can maintain frame rates over that you may as well use vsync/buffering. That goes for any game. I use it by default in everything, and only disable it certain very demanding games when necessary.
