    Hey all,

Just wanted to ask a quick question and see if anyone else has an issue with Rift.

I am running a pretty good rig here on my Alienware M14x, but just curious I'm running on Ultra settings and I'm only getting around 20-25 FPS. I tried switching down to high and it still only gives me around the same FPS. Does anyone have any feedback on this? Should I be getting better FPS or am I just complaining a bit? Thanks all.

    My specs are posted below.

    Intel® Core™ i7 2630QM 2.0GHz (2.9GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
    4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
    1.5GB DDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M using NVIDIA Optimus™ technology

    Chris

I had problems with rift on my desktop and there is one setting that you need to change which really has a big impact on performance but I don't remember what it was since I haven't played the game since like May XD.

Do you remember if it's in the Rift controls or the video card settings?

Settings that have big impact on the framerates are:

    Ambient occlusion (SSAO, HBAO...)
    Anti-Aliasing
    Shadows
    Depth of field / blur
    Resolution

So would they be turned on/off? What would be your recommendation?

if you are having performance issues, then I would turn em off. I stopped playing Rift roughly when my free 30 days ran out... it was a fun game, but not worth my sub at this point...

I know my G73JH couldnt run it fully maxed, but it ran it well enough. Never tried it on work's M14x o_O

I run rift at the ultra preset, native resolution 1366x768, gpu @ 750/1000. Do not judge your performance by what you get in the main cities (defiant = meridian, Guardian = Sanctuary) these are low for everyone. In the world maps, dungeons, raids I get over 30fps most all the time. 30-45fps, ultra settings (preset). No other mods needed.

You may want to try turning up the clock on the GPU. Here is a video of an M14x running Rift on ultra settings and I believe the GPU is clocked at 750 (shader 1500) and memory ~1000. Also make sure you're using updated drivers and Rift is using DirectX 11.

How can I check if Rift is using DirectX 11?

Right click the RIFT game icon and select the “properties” option. Select the “shortcut” tab and in the “target” info box and outside the quotation marks add “-dx11″.

Your path should look something like this:

    “H:\RIFT Game\riftpatchlive.exe” -dx11
