So I got Borderlands and Saints Row the Third this past summer during steam sales. But I only got a chance to play them recently due to school and work.

When I play Borderlands I get between 20-30fps on low settings everything off. On Saints Row the Third I get like 10-22fps on low settings. I am whitelisting the games.

My question is that does my m14xR1 play these games that well period or are they not detecting my gt 555m. I am whitelisting the game files, (not the steam launch but the games). I have 0 overclocking on GPU, and no turbo boost on cpu(i7). I have the latest drivers from nvidia 306.02(ignore my signature I forgot to update it) I have also tried previous drivers but it has no difference in fps. The reason why I am asking these questions only now, is because I want to play Borderlands 2, but if I keep on getting garbo fps, I dont wanna waste my money.

Are these two games (Borderlands and Saints row the third) suppose to have higher fps on m14xr1? Or does m14x not really handle these games?

I get 32+ FPS on ultra at 1080p in SR3, but haven't tested Borderlands...

The recommended settings state that you need a 560m video card which is a little better than the one you currently have therefore the FPS won't be that high. try using the DELL drivers (most stable ones). It could be that it is not running with the nVidia card. Check out this article also.

If its a M14xR1, it might be because of dust issue. I too had a problem where everything lags as hell. After opening up my laptop, i found a carpet of dust stuck between the vents and the fan. I would recommend you to use HWinfo and check it out and do a repaste if you can as well since the M14xR1 is probably with you for about a year.
