Hello, So iv been excited about the new AW14 for weeks as mine is ordered and will be shipped soon. It may just be buyers remorse but I really need your help deciding if I should go 2012 or 2013.I really only want this laptop to be able to play Wow on ultra.

So what i wanted to know..Every review iv read from a user is a 50/50 chance of being bad.(2012 of course) Are the odds of me having a lemon really this high? Is the screen really so reflective Ill hate it? Iv seen the AW14 ISP screen and i actually just think it looks cheap. The keys are looking horrible also.

Are the keys touching the screen really that bad of an issue?

And iv heard problems with the hinges arise?

Mostly I just want to know if i take good care of the 2012 is it going to last me longer than 2 years? Do you guys really have that much trouble with these?

Im sure I could read for an hour or two and find this info but my agent says it will ship anytime, so I need to make a decision soon, why not ask the people who know first hand. Thanks for the help beforehand

Also I will be getting the 1600 display....i7 3740...1 gb 650m....16 gb ram

or the stock AW14 of course with the upgrade to 1080p

I suggest avoiding Alienware. After the merger with Dell it isn't what it used to be, the laptop will be loud like hell and only has one fan to cool things down, while other brands in the same segment have moved on with dual cooling solution (one for cpu and gpu) that are silent even while gaming (such as ASUS) and they have a 14" laptop that is far cheaper and can play WoW on ultra no problem. I regret buying my alienware since even after repasting it's loud and does not seem to fix an issue, and disappointed even in their 3rd revision they did not tackle the issue of cooling. This is definitely not quality or value either, I suggest going elsewhere heavily.

Hey mate, I just bought a M14x today, starting to get a collection going.
If you get a lemon its covered by warranty, I wouldn't let that push you away from one. The hinge problem only affected M11x's from memory, and the screen is awesome if you game most of the time in the dark. Even in the light I don't find it as bad as some people do.

I didn't get the new model because I hate the new model styling's and same as you, the new keyboard/touchpad combo is absolutely horrendous IMO.

Those specs, can I recommend you get less ram (8GB) and the 2GB 650m instead. You can upgrade RAM much easier then you can upgrade that GPU. Either way you will smash WoW.

Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean we all have. If another laptop looked anywhere near as good as the M14x I might have considered one, but the reality is that the whole M14x package is awesome.

I agree, however many people have had these issues on these forums with no true fix for it, and with the money put forward to buy an Alienware you do expect higher quality or atleast for a dual fan cooling solution but no Dell choose to save costs over quality.
