    Estimated Delivery Date vs Actual

    Can anyone tell me (who has received the laptop) how close to the Estimated Delivery date did they actually receive the laptop?

    I have to coordinate a business trip with picking this thing up :)

    Does anyone know a way to expedite the "In Production" with dell ?

    My EDD was 05/13/11 and I received my M14x on 04/27/11. It also shipped literally the day before that and I had it listed as 7 day shipping, so I have no clue how they do things. My order also said in production up until it said shipped, so I didn't get the in prudction, finalizing production, preparing for shipping before it switched to shipped. Unless all of this happened in a two hour span or course.

    That's good news, although you must have been one of the first buyers.

    I'm wondering if the order amount went up and if things will slow down? Can anyone chime in from EDD's in mid may that are receiving now by chance?

    Ordered 4/25 received 5/3. They changed to "shipped" status the day before it was delivered.

    Your order status depends on which screen you're checking. There was a period of several days where three different parts of Dell's site said three different things.
    There was on page that simply said "In Production", another page that said "Finalizing Production", and another that said "Ship Complete" (meaning it is complete enough to ship, but it hasn't shipped yet).
    One page I got to by following a link in the order confirmation email Dell sent me. Another page I got to by following that same link from my phone instead of a desktop computer (I checked dozens of times - it always worked this way), and I believe the third page I got to by entering order details on Dell's site.

    By the way, I ordered my M14x on 4/19/2011 with no fancy purchase programs or anything, and I had seven day shipping. My computer was "Ship Complete"/"Finalizing Production" by 4/24/2011 (and possibly a day earlier). The computer finally left Chicago on the afternoon of 4/28/2011, and my seven day shipping only took one day to reach St. Louis, so it arrived on 4/29/2011. The estimated delivery date was 5/13/2011. I did call a few times to bug them, and at one point a rep said he put in an order to expedite my shipping and get it out of the warehouse sooner. (I only bugged them so much because it was frustrating to see my computer was ship complete for 4 days while I the only other computer I had was completely broken and unusable. I had no computer, and other people that ordered a day or even two after me were receiving theirs while mine was still "Finalizing Production".)

    My original EDD was May 17th. It was marked shipped on Monday May 2nd, the updated EDD was then 01/01/70. I got it next day.

    In my experience, estimated delivery dates are nothing but fantasy.

    Mine currently says Delivery Prep on one screen and in production on another. I ordered 4/27, my EDD is 5/25 I am willing to be I see it on Monday.

    Well it seems as though Dell is shipping a few weeks before their original EDD so that's pretty good in my books.

    Although I did think 4 weeks to build and ship my laptop was a bit high.
