Is it safe to clean the exhuast vent using a vaccum cleaner blower. I pointed the blower towards outside. The fan rotated at full speed and hopefully the dust inside went out. Do i need to take any precaution...

Never use a Domestic vaccum cleaner as they can build-up a massive static charge that can be very bad for your notebook, best to buy a can of Air Duster.

Best to open up the vent and remove the dust balls inside the fan grills, using a can of air could potentially make your fan spin and build up static electricity which could fry your components.
opening it up and removing the dust balls then spraying the dust going outside your pc while holding down the fans is the best way to do it.

as long as opening up your laptop does not void your warranty (which being in the alienware thread shouldn't

if that's the case, just make sure to do small bursts 1-2 second bursts with the air canister instead of one long spray :D
