Hi, sorry for making another thread...but just one more question.

I bought this laptop from my cousin..and he never mentioned any cd that came with this. I just asked him and he said he doesn't remember if it came with a CD.

This has me concerned, because I want to repsawn this laptop...but I don't want to restore it to factory settings then realize i need the cd and end up staring at a black dead screen.

So can anyone just verify for me if I need a CD in order to restore this laptop to factory settings? Is the respawn program already installed within the harddrive and all it takes is one simple click of the mouse. thanks a lot again guys.

Yes there're 2 DVD and 1 Optional CD, the two are the Windows 7 Alienware Edition DVD and an Alienware M14x Resource DVD, the optional CD is if you opt to buy the 5.1 SoundBlaster, then you'll get a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi MB CD for it. As for the AlienRespawn you have you create it yourself, that AlienRespawn is like a factory image with a different name.

And for the factory install or system restore, yes you need the AlienRespawn CD (which I stated above that you have to create one) to restore it to the time you receive your laptop. For "how to" you can find it through this link: HOW TO: Preserve AlienRespawn - stock drive to aftermarket drive / AlienRespawn Q&A, and for How to restore the look and feel after a clean install you can find it here: HOW TO: Restore the Alienware 'Look and Feel' after a clean install of Windows 7
